How do I transfer my domain?

NEW DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATIONS
BrioHost can register your new domain for only 14.95/year through an accredited ICANN registrar. Domain names registered through BrioHost are automatically registered with the correct nameserver information. Other domain names hosted by BrioHost will need to point to the DNS servers listed below.

TRANSFERRING FROM ANOTHER WEB HOST
If your site is currently hosted by another web host, it's still easy to transfer your account to BrioHost!
Here are the steps we recommend to ensure zero downtime durring your transfer:

1) First, sign up with BrioHost and upload your web files.

2) After you have tested your settings to make sure everthing is the way you want it, update the DNS servers for your domain. It can take from 24 to 72 hours for the changes to your DNS servers to take place. During the update or transfer, traffic will go to either your old web server or your BrioHost server. For your visitors, there will be no apparent down time.

3) Once the transfer is complete, just cancel your account with the other web host, and you'll be finished.

Updating your DNS servers:
  • In order to edit your DNS you will need to visit the site at where you originally registered your domain name.

  • If you do not know which registrar your domain name was registered with,
click here to view the whois record for your domain.

  • At your domain registrar's site, you will need to login to their system using the username and password they assigned you. Once you login, you will come across a link that allows you to change your nameserver information. In that section, please update your nameserver information to the following:

BrioHost DNS INFORMATION
DNS1.BRIOHOST.NET 207.44.185.207 (Primary)
DNS2.BRIOHOST.NET 204.248.57.235 (Secondary)

Once your modifications have been submitted, it will take 24-72 hours until your changes will be visible on the Internet. This delay is due to DNS propagation. The DNS servers, which update the Internet, are not transferred instantaneously. They take at least 24 hours to upload to the Main Root Servers which, in turn, spread information throughout the Internet. This can create delays of up to 72 hours even after changes are visible in your WHOIS records.
